Macroom Motors was established in 1971 by Donal Lehane, Micheal McSweeney and John O'Farrell. Macroom Motors began operating as a Toyota Franchise in 1975 and proudly continues to do so as one of the largest dealers in the country. Today the company is owned and run by John Lehane.

Can't speak highly enough about the very excellent service received from Macroom Motor Services recently. Car broke down while on a walking holiday, Macroom arranged to see us within an hour and couldn't have been more helpful. Professional, obliging and friendly staff who rescued us from a very difficult day. Thanks to everyone.

***Misled and let down***
On Saturday last 27th of September 2025 at 10:52am I messaged Michael Barry Salesman at Macroom Motors in relation to  an advert for a car on Carsireland. Not having received a reply I rang him at 12:09. He asked me to forward photos of my trade in car.I sent these at 12:14 and following some messages to and fro a deal was agreed at 14:18pm.He then messaged me saying he would hold the car until end of day Monday 29th.I did not see any reason to reply again following that message. On Monday my husband and I drove the distance of 105km arriving at 2:30pm. We quickly spotted the car and noticed a SOLD sign on it but we weren’t really concerned about that. The car was unlocked and we were satisfied with it having checked it out. Then along comes Michael Barry telling us the car was sold because I did not get back to him. He said another salesman had just taken a deposit over the phone. I told him he never asked me for a deposit and would have gladly paid it if asked. We told him he had agreed to hold the car until the end of the day and it was still only 2:30pm. He tried to make excuses that they had lots of enquiries about it and that he had told me that on the phone, a thing he had never mentioned. I wouldn’t advise anyone to take Michael Barry’s word when purchasing a car. I will not be going back to Macroom Motors and will not recommend it to any family or friends. This is not how you do business with people and highly unprofessional.

For anyone who is thinking of buying a car from this dealership, I would like to share my experience with them.

I bought a car from them via an online traders platform, where they completely and utterly misled me and made false declarations to me about multiple details of the car. This is now costing me over €3,000 to repair.

They said it had a partial service history with service books and manuals present in the vehicle. It did not. In fact, there was nothing in the glove box but an NCT failure cert, which they also did not mention at all.

The handbrake switch was completely broken and detached from the dash of the car. Also no mention of this when they uploaded the car to the platform. It was just put back in its place for me to find when I collected the car. This proves they knew it was broken and actively made the decision not to disclose it.

They also said the engine was operating correctly. This was incorrect. The car was stalling when cold and there turned out to be a problem with the injectors.

And worst of all, they described it as "not having any previous paint or body repair work"... but not long after I collected the car, I noticed there was poor repair work carried out on the left-hand side of the car. It was obviously involved in a collision on this side of the car, and there was some very shabby work done that was not easy to see in the photos shown online.

Just because you are selling to the trade does not make it okay to completely deceive buyers, especially when they don't even have the chance to inspect the car themselves in person, as it's all done online.

When they were contacted by the auction platform, they did not respond, and now I am left at a huge loss due to their severe carelessness.

If a dealer such as this has no problem conducting this kind of dishonest and defrauding behaviour, I would advise everyone to totally avoid this place.
