Description: Bare winter branches interlock and climb until they trace the outline of a bowed head and shoulders — she isn't wearing the tree, she's becoming it. Every trunk and twig is built up separately with the knife, layered rather than laid flat, so the whole figure reads as something grown rather than drawn. Is she rooted, or is rooted all that's left of her? Stripped back to pure structure and monochrome, this is what's left standing when growth and decay start to look like the same motion.
