Etching of Cologne Cathedral by Richard Adler

An original etching by Richard Adler—framed in a dark moulding with a mat—depicting a view of Cologne Cathedral (Kölner Dom); the work is black-and-white with subtle watercolor or sepia tinting. Subject: Cologne Cathedral viewed from the west façade, featuring a small square and the outlines of urban buildings in the background. Inscribed in pencil on the left: "Köln". In the center: "Orig. Rad." (abbreviation for the German *Original-Radierung*, meaning original etching). On the right: the artist's handwritten signature. Stylistically—and given the "Orig. Rad." inscription and the work's resemblance to typical German cityscapes of the era—it is attributed to the German printmaker and painter Richard Adler (1906–1977), who was known for his series of small, hand-colored etchings of German cities.
