Hector is well known to TV audiences through his successful show on TG4, the highly acclaimed award-winning TV Amu, which has seen him travel from one end of the globe to the next. This documentary Only Fools Buy Horses was the first time for Hector to present an RTE show in English with the action taking place a little closer to home and sees Hector fulfil a lifelong dream. Armed with a little knowledge and a lot of enthusiasm, Hector’s quest is to become a successful racehorse owner but he quickly realises he has a lot to learn. While very familiar with the inside of the bookies – Hector is a novice in the world of buying and selling racehorses and he doesn’t have much of a budget to play with… He enlists the help of a team of experts - owner Padraic Maloney, trainer PJ Flynn and bloodstock agent Eamon Reilly. His search takes him from Smithfield horse market to the heart of English racing at Newmarket, where he buys his horse. This is only the beginning of Hector’s adventures as he takes his new best friend back to Ireland to train him up for the Irish flat season.
