Description
Phacelia is another favourite of bees especially all species of bumble bees. Again this should be on every bee keeper’s list as the lavender coloured flowers are very rich in both nectar and pollen and attract a huge variety of bees, butterflies, hover flies and pollinating insects. It establishes and flowers within 8 weeks of sowing. Not as good as the Borage to come back the second year so it would ideally need to be sown each year for guaranteed success. This is often sown by farmers as green manuring crop.Seeds need a fine and fluffy seedbed. It does not need to be deep at all. 1 cm deep is perfect. Roll or lightly rake in afterwards. Scattering them on uncultivated soil is not recommended. Buy online; www.rathcormacgunclub.com Wildflower meadow seed, game crops and ACRES winter bird feed seed also available.
