Solution to Compacted Soil

Soil compaction can occur at levels deeper than any garden fork or mechanical type spiker can alleviate and it may be necessary to adopt a more robust approach to aeration and decompaction. When a crust or pan should form any deeper than 20cm it can lead to a variety of problems, including perched water tables - free drainage may occur below but an impenetrable pan or hard material can create a saturated layer below the root level. The soil will become stagnant and airless causing new plant roots and the grass itself to suffocate. Our Machine uses a compressed air injection system. By releasing a blast of compressed air gas at extremely high pressure at the compacted depth, the panned soil is shattered, crazing the layer, and allowing free passage of air to the roots.
