Description
The L333 King Tiger Pleco is a striking and popular aquarium fish from the Loricariidae family, originating from the Amazon basin (including the Rio Xingu in Brazil). It is characterised by strong, contrasting colours – the body is covered with small, maze-like stripes in black and white or black and yellow, making it one of the most decorative plecos. Adult fish grow to around 12–15 cm (approx. 5–6 inches). • Minimum tank size: ~100 litres • Water temperature: 26–30 °C • pH: 5.5–7.5 – ideally slightly acidic • Substrate & décor: sand or fine gravel; hiding places are essential – wood, stones, caves. This species highly appreciates places where it can retreat and hide. Although sometimes described as an omnivore, the L333 is in practice more carnivorous, especially as an adult. Its diet should include: • frozen or live foods such as larvae, small shellfish, etc. • high-quality sinking foods for bottom feeders (sinking pellets, wafers or granules – ideally formulated for bottom-dwelling fish) • occasional vegetables (e.g. courgette, cucumber, etc.), although these should not be the main part of the diet. Generally peaceful, although adults can become territorial towards other individuals of the same species, especially males.
