Giant Hosta Variety Wu La La A rare verigated daughter plant of the giant hosta empress wu Grows to a maximum height of 1m by 2m wide (3ft 3 x 6ft 6) with large spire of white flowers appearing mid summer Comes in a large 8 inch pot and in ideal conditions will reach it's full size in 3 years All hostas prefer dappled or light shade and moist soil. Making clay and damp sites the perfect environment to grow XXL hostas and Wu La La is no exception, it will tolerate full sun if the soil remains damp or watered but the colour will be effected, especially during heatwaves and July August. Hostas are ideal for ground cover especially under tree cover or near water and can be grown as exceptional companion plants for other especially large plants like tree lilies, tree lupins or any native trees. The only site I would not recommend to grow hosta is under non native sticka spruce, cypress Leylandi or Scotts pine as they create a dry Shade that few plants can tolerate (plant hydrangea there).
