Description
Yellow Rattle is a parasitic plant and is well known for supressing grass in wildflower meadows. It does this by its root structure which absorbs nutrients and energy from the host plants and also by sapping the energy from their host. Best sown in Autumn/early Winter as the seed requires a cold spell before it germinates. Raking little patches here and there in your meadow and scattering a few seeds will work as long as you rake them in well again after sowing and flatten them in with back of the rake. Whatever method method you choose to sow, it is important that the seeds are put into direct contact with the soil. Sold in 50g packets to cover 50 square metres if sowing a patch on their own but for stitching into existing meadows this pack will treat 200 square metres or more.
