1998 Fender Stratocaster – Made in Mexico – All Original – Tweed Case – Collector Condition For sale is an exceptional 1998 Made in Mexico Stratocaster in outstanding, collector-grade condition. Serial number MN8 confirms 1998 production. This guitar is completely original and presents exactly as it would have when it left the shop. The body is flawless with no dents, chips, buckle rash or finish marks. The neck has aged beautifully into a rich, warm amber tone, with even lacquer ageing and no discoloration. There is no fret wear whatsoever. It has clearly spent most of its life stored carefully rather than played. Hardware is clean and original. Electronics are untouched. It plays effortlessly and rings true across the board. Included is the original proper tweed case. These late 90s Mexican Strats were quietly taken off the market in parts of Europe, including Germany, before later runs were restructured and replaced by newer Indonesian-built models. The earlier Mexican production from this period is widely regarded as solid, dependable and tonally excellent. In many cases, they rival 80s Japanese instruments for build consistency and feel. Finding a genuine 1990s example in this condition is extremely difficult. Most have been played heavily or modified. Clean, unmarked, all-original examples are rare. Try locating another 1998 in this state and you may be searching a long time. I have owned everything from Japanese builds to USA Standards and Custom Shop instruments.
