A 1966 ten shillings piece issued to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 1916 Easter Rising, 0.8333 Silver featuring Padraig Pearse on the obverse and Cuchulainn on the reverse. Originally two million of these coins were minted but 1,270,000 were subsequently withdrawn, as the coins proved not to be popular with the general public, despite their historical and cultural significance.
