Collectable Bang Model 1:43–Ford GT40 Mk2 X1 Open

Pre-owned 1:43 scale diecast model from Italian company BANG. This was part of my personal collection:- Bang 7094 Ford GT40 Mk2 X1 Roadster 1966 Sebring #1 1st Ruby & Miles " Unique Ford GT40" PRICE >> €22 or Best Offer Dating from the late 1990s the model is well detailed and finished. It is in very good condition. The model is of the unique open GT40 X-1 Roadster that took its sole victory in the 1966 Sebring 12 Hours. The X-1 was entered by Shelby American Inc. on behalf of Ford Motor Company . It was driven by Lloyd Ruby (USA) and Ken Miles (UK/USA). The one off GT40 X-1 Roadster was based on the GT40 MkI but heavily modified with an aluminum chassis, a MkII nose, no roof and the MkII's 7 Liter Ford 427 engine. In the 1966 running of the Sebring 12 Hours there were 11 GT40 entered made up of Mk.I's, Mk.II's and the X-1. As the race reached its conclusion Gurney/Grant lead in their Shelby entered GT40 MkII with Ruby/Miles second in the GT40 X-1. However on the last lap, while Gurney was driving, the car's engine failed. Ken Miles crossed the finish line giving the X-1 a surprise victory. Gurney pushed his car across the finishing line second but was disqualified for this action. Never-the-less another MkII was classified 2nd and a MkI 3rd, giving Ford a dominant 1, 2, 3 finish. The GT40 X-1 was powered by a Ford 427 FE Galaxie 90º V8 OHV engine of 6,982cc with 2 valves per cylinder and Holley 780 CFM carburettor giving 485 bhp at 6,200 rpm.
