The limited-edition range is called “GOLD”. Limited Edition >> Number 2,056 of 3,000. During 1963 Shelby designed a new Cobra in cooperation with Ford in Detroit. The new chassis had 4 main chassis tubes (up from 3) and all-round coil spring suspension. It had wide fenders and a larger radiator opening. The new Cobra was powered by the “side oiler” Ford 427 engine rated at 425 bhp, which provided a top speed of 163 mph in the standard model and 485 bhp with a top speed of 180 mph in the competition model. Termed the Cobra Mark III, production began at the start of 1965. The new car did not sell well and was a financial failure. The Mark III missed homologation for the 1965 racing season and was not raced by the Shelby team. However, it was raced successfully by many privateers and went on to win races all the way into the 70's. 31 unsold competition cars were detuned and made road legal. They were S/C for semi-competition. Today, the 427 S/C are the rarest and most valuable Cobras selling in excess of 1.5 million dollars. The Cobra 427 S/C is powered by a Ford 427 "side oiler" 90º V8 cast-iron block and head OHV engine of 6,997cc with 2 valves per cylinder giving 425 bhp.
