Full 9CT Gold Sovereign Ring made in 1989 The front depicts St. George slaying the dragon, a classic reverse design by Benedetto Pistrucci used on British sovereigns. The date 1982 is visible below St. George. The underside shows the second portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Arnold Machin with the inscription "ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA REGINA F D" The coin has been mounted in a substantial hexagonal signet-style ring with a diamond-cut border, a style that was especially popular in Britain and Ireland from the 1970s through the 1990s. 1989 was a substantial year in world history The Berlin Wall fell on the 9th of November – East Germany opened its border, leading to the fall of the Berlin Wall.
