Seiko Elnix 0703-7110 Vintage JDM Watch from 1975

For sale vintage JDM Seiko Elnix made in August 1975. Reference 0703-7110. It is a real treat for any watch enthusiast. The Elnix watches were sold in the mid 1970s in the Japanese Domestic Market only. It has the 0703A electronic balance wheel type movement. This means it uses the balance wheel for timekeeping just like a traditional mechanical watch but instead of a mainspring it is powered by a battery! There is nothing like this made today. It is not a quartz watch, but an electromechanical hybrid technology from the 70s that beats at 28800 beats per hour (8 beats per second) so it has a nice smooth sweep of the seconds hand. The case is in absolutely fantastic condition considering it is a 51 years old watch! There are scratches but overall the edges are extremely well preserved and thankfully it has not been overpolished in its lifetime. The movement runs beautifully and keeps excellent time. I serviced and restored it myself in July 2025 so it has a good few years until the next service is needed. I'm a hobbyist watch repairer with around 2 years of experience and I especially love the Seiko Elnix lineup. Using top quality Swiss Moebius lubricants and great care when working on those. The caseback and stem gaskets were replaced, but please treat the watch as splash resistant at best, as you would with any vintage watch! The watch takes a SR43 silver oxide battery and I will fit it with a fresh quality Seizaiken battery for the buyer. The batteries usually last up to 1 year in those. The original bracelet will fit a wrist of up to approximately 19 cm circumference. If that's too small please look into getting a springloaded bracelet clasp extender which are really handy and I'm using them myself on two of my other vintage watches.
