A tall and imposing German Vogeler hand made overstrung piano with decorative front panel and measuring 141cm in height. There was no taller piano built in Berlin in 1890, giving it extra long strings and wide soundboard for greater volume and presence. This Vogeler was described as a Grand Concert Upright, to be used on a stage and heard without amplification. The original Ivory keys are still in excellent condition, as are the strings, tight tuning pins, and robust internal mechanism known as the Action. With have thoroughly overhauled the mechanism which will function for another century. The original 1890 cabinet has a normal amount of natural wear for its great age, but overall is good, with no cracks in the pin block, cast iron frame, or soundboard. Ideal for a beginner learning piano, with weighted/balanced keys that are responsive and with a medium touch. Superb depth of tone in the Tenor and Bass register, similar in potency to a grand piano.
