Rare Very Large Hand Carved Mid Century African Rhinoceros sculpture. Circa 60's/70's, This Elegant sculpture of a charging black Rhinoceros is a majestic sight to behold. Made from one of the densest and heaviest wood in the world, African Black Ironwood from the Dalbergia Melanoxylon tree,this wood is so dense and heavy it sinks in water. Made by the Master carver's of the Kamba Tribe ,these east African master carver's produced high end minimalist Safari modernism pieces for the top London and American Stores.This Beautiful Beast weighs in at 17.5 Kilograms (2 stone 10 lbs.) and is a massive 33 inches (84 cm.) Long, 11 inches (28 cm ) High.9 inches (23 cm.) Deep. Some Professional minor restoration over it's lifetime, but in Fabulous condition overall.
