Vintage Brass Fireside Set

Decorative collection of three vintage brass fireside accessories, comprising: * Retractable hearth brush with detailed sailing-ship finial * Long-handled three-pronged fireside toasting fork with sailing-ship finial * Ornate barley-twist brass coal/fire tongs Most likely dating from the mid 20th century. The two nautical pieces complement one another particularly well, although the three items are being sold as a collection and are not claimed to be an original matching set. The retractable brush mechanism operates perfectly, with the bristles extending and retracting easily. The brush body of the brush barrel is 12cm, stretching to 20cm to the top of the ship. Tongs measure approx 58cm in length and the three-pronged fork measures All three pieces have attractive aged brass colouring, original patina and expected surface wear, tarnishing and marks consistent with age. They display very well beside a traditional fireplace. Please note: one shaft of the tongs has a visible split near the gripping end. The tongs should therefore be considered decorative or in need of repair rather than sold for regular functional use. This damage is clearly shown in the photographs and reflected in the price. Lightly cleaned while retaining their original aged character. Ideal for traditional fireplace décor, a period-style interior or a nautical-themed display.
