Vehicle Overview
Description
We are delighted to present another one of our hand-picked motorcycles here at Retro Bikes Dublin, and this one is a real piece of history. This 1965 BMW R27 is the last of BMW's single-cylinder machines, and finding one in this condition is not something that happens very often. This particular bike still wears a dealer plaque from Ulrich Seiwert in Frankfurt, which tells you a little about its past, it has clearly been cherished and properly looked after over in Germany before making its way to us. It is now Irish registered on a ZV vintage plate, and it stood out to us straight away for just how clean and correct it is throughout. The R27 is a lovely thing to understand. It is a 247cc overhead-valve single, and it was the only BMW single ever made with a rubber-mounted engine, which BMW fitted to smooth out the vibration, so it runs far more relaxed than you would expect from a single of this era. Add in the famous BMW shaft drive and the leading-link front forks and you have a bike that is genuinely special to ride and to own. Some of the highlights include: Matching-number-era 247cc OHV single-cylinder engine BMW shaft drive (no chains to fuss over) Leading-link Earles-style front forks Classic black with hand-applied white coachlines throughout BMW roundel tank badges Sprung solo saddle Rear luggage carrier / rack Full valanced mudguards Chrome tapered exhaust Drum brakes front and rear Spoked wheels, beautifully finished Ulrich Seiwert (Frankfurt) dealer plaque Irish registered on a ZV vintage plate It is a stunning bike in person and genuinely something we are proud to have in stock. We work hard to find bikes that feel a little bit different, bikes that have real character, history and condition rather than just being standard examples, and this R27 fits that perfectly. The paint and chrome present beautifully, the engine is clean and correct, and overall it is just a really honest, well-sorted classic. With BMW singles becoming harder and harder to find in this kind of order, this is a lovely opportunity for a collector or an enthusiast who appreciates the engineering and wants something with a proper story behind it.

Thanks a million Alan for ordering the part in for the starting issue and installing the aftermarket parts to get my FZ1-S winter ready.
