Vehicle overview
Description
Nearly every adventure bike built in the last decade has got heavier, taller and more complicated. Aprilia went the other way with the Tuareg, and the motorcycling press has not really stopped talking about it since. This is a 2025 example with 9,860 km on it, so it is barely run in, and we were glad to get one because these do not turn up secondhand very often. The reason the Tuareg matters is that Aprilia built it to actually go off road rather than to look like it might. It is properly light for the class, the suspension is fully adjustable with real travel at both ends, and it runs a twenty one inch front wheel with a spoked rim, which is the detail that separates genuine adventure bikes from tall road bikes wearing knobbly styling. Underneath there is a proper bash plate protecting the engine. The 660 twin is the same family of engine as the Tuono and RS660, and it is a gem. Smooth, torquey, revvy when you want it, and it makes real power without ever feeling like it is straining. On a bike this light that combination is genuinely quick, and it is a long way from the slightly lethargic character a lot of middleweight adventure bikes end up with. It is well equipped too. Ride by wire with multiple riding modes, traction control, ABS you can switch off at the rear for the loose stuff, cruise control and a colour TFT dash. Hand guards and a tall adjustable screen are already fitted, which are the first two things most people add anyway. Some of the highlights: 659cc parallel twin Twenty one inch spoked front wheel Fully adjustable long travel suspension Multiple ride modes with traction control and switchable ABS Cruise control Colour TFT dash Engine bash plate fitted Hand guards and adjustable screen 9,860 km showing This is a bike for somebody who genuinely intends to use it. It will do a long road trip perfectly happily, it will commute, and unlike a lot of things wearing an adventure badge it will actually cope when the tarmac runs out. If you have been eyeing up the bigger twins and quietly worrying about picking one up off a gravel track on your own, this is the answer to that. Nearly new, low mileage and with the first owner having taken the depreciation. Come down and have a look at it.
