Description

original World War II British Royal Air Force Flying Goggles First introduced in 1942, the Mk VIII was the definitive aircrew goggle of the second half of WWII, famously worn by Spitfire, Hurricane, and Lancaster crews, and widely favored by Allied pilots for their excellent field of vision. Design & Material Specifications: • Frame: Two-piece articulated metal frames finished in their classic vintage blue-grey/olive paint, connected by an adjustable metal central nose bridge. • Lenses: Split-angle clear safety glass lenses designed to prevent peripheral distortion while flying. • Face Padding: Padded brown leather outer surround stitched to the frames, backed with a soft, natural chamois lining for pilot comfort at high altitudes. • Strap: Original elasticated fabric head strap in a muted blue-grey tone, complete with its metal adjustment loops and leather terminal tabs.
