Overview
Description
The "sunny stick insect" or Sungaya inexpectata, is a docile species that is suitable for beginners. We have lots of them, males and females. Young or fully developed-, between 3-5 months old. Females can breed without fertilization. 2nd Generation of 2 Females. Easy to breed. They live for 1.5 years, and eat a variety of plants like bramble and ivy that can be easily found everywhere (do not feed them human food, which might contain insecticides). For care, they need an enclosure with high humidity, which just needs a daily misting with water spray. Indoor temperature between 22-27 degrees is ideal. They are harmless, can be held in hand (see pictures) and pretend to be a stick and move like a stick waved by the wind (see the video) Enclosure not provided. A transparent glass enclosure is recommended. 20cm x 20cm x 20cm could comfortably host 2 adults. We have 20 of them in a 40x 25x27cm but it is getting tight.
