Synology Diskstation DS413 4 bay NAS

The Diskstation, complete with 4x Western Digital Red 3Tb drives, is running the last version of Diskstation Manager software available for this NAS, DSM6.2.4-25556 update 8. No further updates are possible for two reasons: the limited memory (1Gb) and the now unsupported Coriq CPU. However, what it lacks in modern features such as running Docker applications the system makes up for in power efficiency and ease of use. Full technical specs are available on Synology's web site. The system comes with complete original packaging and supplies (power brick, UK/IE or European power cord, eSATA cable, drive screws etc.). Admin and network configuration details are included. Most other settings have been reverted to as-new. (Factory reset is possible but not recommended as updates to the OS are no longer available). This would make a good 2nd NAS for someone already owning a Synology NAS -- Synology Hyperbackup software can make a full system image. The unit comes with Surveillance Station software and 2 CCTV camera licenses. The camera pack is fully up to date and supports many modern cameras. It has been in use with Samsung and Tapo CCTV cameras. It would, of course, also make a good first NAS for anyone wanting to protect their digital assets from drive failure. Data is recorded redundantly on a 4 drive "RAID" array; any drive can fail and be "hot swapped" with no loss of data. The drives can also be upgraded to 4x4Tb units without any downtime (one at a time; when the last is replaced Synology hybrid RAID software will resize the array). Synology's Diskstation Manager Software remains the gold standard of NAS software, with an attractive, powerful and easy to use interface.
