148cm | 8-Year-Old Strawberry Roan Mare Petal is a 148cm, 8-year-old strawberry roan mare by Persiflage, the internationally proven 2⭐ eventer and Grade A showjumper, known for producing athletic, scopey and rideable offspring. She is out of a full Connemara mare, giving her an excellent blend of performance blood, strength and pony character, and she is N/N for Hoofwall. We have owned Petal since she was lightly backed as a 3-year-old and she has been carefully and correctly produced at home by myself and my daughter, with an emphasis on giving her a broad, confidence-building education rather than rushing her. She has hunted for two full seasons, where she proved to be sensible and rideable, never strong and always mannerly in the field. She has also taken part in Pony Club activities, show jumping, dressage and hunter trials, and has had some exposure to Junior Eventing, gaining experience without pressure. On the flat, Petal works consistently in a nice shape, is forward going without being strong, and has always been ridden in a snaffle, including in open fields. She is a sensitive mare who responds best to a confident, competent rider, rather than a complete novice, but she is honest and genuine in her work. She has never bucked, reared or napped, is easy to manage on the ground, and is happy to work on her own without becoming unsettled. Petal is a capable and scopey jumper, comfortably competing at 90cm–1m, with plenty of ability to go on, and is jumping over 1m at home. She would be well suited to a home that enjoys show jumping, Pony Club, hunting, working hunter or general all-round activities. She is easy to manage — good to shoe, box and travel — and has a sensible attitude to her work.
