Description
This bass has lived. It used to belong to Kevin Hayes of the Jazz Coasters, an Irish jazz band active in the mid-70s. Then the bass belonged to Dave Fleming. Eventually it made its way to me, and now it’s looking for a new owner, as I’m upgrading my instrument. It’s a laminate bass, resilient, won’t crack or split unless you punch a hole through it. Strong sound. Great for carrying it to gigs. It used to be painted white and later the paint was stripped and it’s back to its original blonde color. Only on the inside of the headstock you can see the remaining white paint. The headstock has been repaired - there are signs of repair but this happened before I owned the bass. Given its age and how much it’s been used, it’s normal that it’s not smooth but rough around the edges. It’s structurally sound, the wear is superficial. When you’re buying this bass, you’re not only buying an instrument but also a piece of Irish jazz history.
