German Parlor Guitar (1880-1900)

Antique German Parlor Guitar (circa 1880-1900). Originally purchased from a Swedish music store, whose label is visible inside the guitar. The shop was owned by August Waidele, a German-Swedish music teacher, violinist, pianist, conductor and instrument dealer. This guitar is a beautiful survivor from the Golden Age of German Lutherie with very high end specs including: High quality tight grained solid German Spruce top, Maple neck, Rosewood fretboard and highly flamed Maple back and sides. Pearwood and Maple checkerboard purfling with decorative Mother of Pearl inlays. Double bound Mahogany binding. Beautiful intricate Mother of Pearl and Abolone inlays Rosette with checkerboard purfling. Slotted headstock with new Grover tuners (we still have the original bone tip tuners). Hand engraved patented Tailpiece (Patentamtl Geschutzt) with adjustable bridge. Given the small Parlor size it actually delivers a loud articulate tone with a signature "woody" resonance that only a Guitar of its great age can provide. It would make an ideal instrument for fingerstyle, Folk, and recording artists seeking a unique vintage sound. Has recently undergone a meticulous pro Luthier restoration at The Luthiers Workbench (see receipt) with crack in neck repaired (see image) and is now playing beautiful with a lovely low action. A rare instrument, and one of the oldest guitars in the world, very special in so many ways.
