Shamisen – Traditional Japanese Three-String Lute

Imported from Japan a few years ago, Japanese shamisen, the iconic three-stringed lute used in kabuki theatre, geisha music and folk traditions. Synthetic skin soundboard (more durable than traditional cat/dog skin, standard on practice and travel instruments) with purple decorative cloth body binding (dō-kake). Fret positions numbered on the neck — practical for beginners. No Bachi, and no bag. A rare find outside Japan.
