For Sale A unique, handmade cornerless five string fiddle. This violin was recently completed by myself, Caitlin McGinn, in my workshop located in West Cork. A graduate of the Chicago School of Violin Making, I have over ten years experience handcrafting violin family instruments- you can find more examples of my work on my website, www.mcginnsviolins.com and on Instagram @mcginnsviolins This violin has a remarkably even tone across all 5 strings, projects well with beautiful overtones and a deep timbre that is well tempered throughout its wide range. The fifth C string opens up new worlds of possibilities and repertoire on the violin, with a standard violin body size (slightly wider neck and bridge to accommodate the extra string) that is easy to play and will fit in a standard violin case. This instrument would be equally well suited to a traditional fiddle music player or to a classical musician looking to expand their horizons.
