A boat builder's adze (often referred to as a shipwright's adze) is an ancient edge tool used in traditional wooden shipbuilding to shape, hollow, and smooth heavy timbers. Like a chisel, the blade is sharpened with a single bevel on the inside face, enabling millimeter-level accuracy and a finish so smooth it can mimic a hand plane.
