Once the heating element has boiled the water, the steam passes through a cool to touch hose and comes out the steam plate. When the steam plate is held against the wall, steam penetrates the paper, which saturates the backing and partially dissolves the old wallpaper paste releasing the old paper from the wall or ceiling quickly and easily.
