Stickmaking Workshop and Advice Saturday 15th Nov

The Celtic Stickmakers Club is holding a workshop on Saturday 15th November 2025, 10am - 2pm upstairs in The Carpentry Store featuring the skills of carving, jointing, stick bending and pyrography. Come along and find out more about this wonderful country craft. Entry is €5.00 and includes Tea & Coffee. At this workshop Celtic Stickmakers Club would like to give people the opportunity to create their own stick by providing shanks and heads, and under the supervision of experienced Stickmakers put them all together and leave with a new perspective on this craft. As we are now coming into the time of year for stick cutting, when sap is dropping, it is the ideal time to get permission, a small saw, and start gathering nice straight shanks to season slowly in a cool dark shed for next year. So, what better time to attend a stickmaking workshop and get inspired. All are welcome. Founded in 2006, the Celtic Stickmakers Club now has over 50 members from throughout the island of Ireland, and is growing all the time and is dedicated to promoting traditional stickmaking and to sharing skills, ideas and techniques to those beginning and experienced stickmakers alike.
