Vintage Industrial Grinder / Polisher

Superb original vintage Cincinnati Model 102 industrial grinder / polishing machine, manufactured by Cincinnati Electrical Tool Co., Cincinnati, Ohio, USA. A genuine piece of old American industrial engineering, built in an era when workshop machinery was exceptionally heavy and robust. This is a substantial cast machine with great presence and wonderful original character. The machine retains its Cincinnati brass maker’s plate, aged painted finish and authentic workshop patina. It has not been stripped, repainted or cosmetically restored, which is an important part of its appeal. It is a double-ended machine featuring a large grinding wheel with adjustable tool rest, together with the distinctive long tapered/threaded polishing/buffing spindle. The opposite side also carries a tapered spindle through the grinding-wheel assembly. It comes complete with the freestanding steel pedestal stand and lower timber shelf, as shown in the photographs. The complete machine stands approximately 80 cm / 31½ inches high to the top of the main machine body, giving it real presence as a freestanding piece. This would be of particular interest to a collector of vintage machinery or tools, engineer, classic car or motorcycle enthusiast, metalworker, restoration workshop, industrial antiques dealer, antiques polisher, prop house, or someone looking for an authentic industrial feature for a garage, workshop, bar, restaurant or commercial interior.
