Auction Year in Review Diggers & Loaders

As we kick off the new year we take a look back at prices achieved at our auctions in 2023. Almost 10,000 lots went under the hammer in 2023 including a number of special dispersal sales on behalf of farmers across Ireland. In this ad we will take a look at diggers and loaders. We will post other ads for other categories of equipment. 2023 seen a higher throughput of diggers at our auctions versus previous years with almost 100 diggers of all makes, shapes & sizes getting sold. Similar to the tractors it was a year of 2 halves. The biggest impact was probably seen in the larger digger category. In the early parts of the year we saw a clean 2009 Hitachi 130 selling for €28,500 plus vat but at the end of the year similar money would have bought a 2012-2014 model. Having said that a well minded 2002 Hitachi 120 made a respectable €22,000 plus vat in November. Farmers looking to buy their own digger are still actively buying diggers around €20,000 while the self-builders continue to buy up mini diggers in the €10,000-15,000 price range. 2024 will be an interesting year. Experts say a large stock of second hand diggers in the UK could flood the market as new machines are sold but we would be confident that clean Irish equipment with reasonable hours will continue to fetch good money as contractors/farmers are actively looking to buy well minded equipment.
