1953 Ford Anglia

Thank you for your interest in our 1953 Ford Anglia. A great example of a nostalgic Ford Anglia. Runs and drives great and both mechanically as optically in good condition, recent new 6V battery replaced. The exterior would be described as very good conservation condition, the interior has been sympathetically restored with new leather seat covers in the original red leather, replacement headliner, door cards rear panels, carpets. The rear window has been recently removed and refitted with new old stock seal. The Exterior has been cleaned and hand polished. Bumpers front and rear have been acid stripped and, prepared and powder coated to reflect their original appearance. The first generation of the Ford Anglia, the E04A, was released in 1939 as Ford's smallest model in the UK. The two-door Anglia was like the larger four-door Ford Prefect. The car was a facelift of its predecessor, the Ford 7Y. Examples for the Irish market were powered by a 933-cc inline four-cylinder petrol engine with side valves, mated to a three-speed manual transmission. An 1172 cc engine was used for some export markets. The suspension consisted of leaf springs front and rear, the brakes were mechanical. From 1940 to 1945, the E04A was also built in Australia as a tourer (with rear seats) and as a two-seater roadster. Production was stopped in 1948 after 55, 807 units had been built. The second generation of 1949, code E494A, was a makeover of the previous model with a front that was more in the style of the 1940s with its angled upright radiator grille. It was again a very spartan vehicle. When production of the E494A Anglia ended in 1953 after 108, 878 units, the model was sold until 1959 as the extremely simple 103E Ford Popular.
