1966 Mercedes-Benz 220SEb Coupe W111

This 1966 Mercedes-Benz 220SEb, is one of the marques most beautiful models and to this day represents the best value available in hand built Mercedes. This car has been in the hands of its most recent owner for 25 years and has been maintained by one of the UK’s best specialists and as a result remains in absolutely incredible condition. The dark navy exterior paintwork is almost flawless, has a deep shine and all chrome trim fits perfectly. It’s believed the car had a major restoration in the late 90’s and given the superb condition, this was clearly carried out to a very high standard. The interior was also restored in the 90’s in ivory leather, with the correct perforations and the addition of navy piping. Even though contrast piping was not an option available from Mercedes, it works incredibly well. The rich colour of the walnut trim really makes the interior special. The lacquer on the wood is starting to crack in places and may benefit from refinishing in the future. The 2.2 litre six cylinder engine is silky smooth, was rebuilt in 1999 and has covered only 10,000 since. The 2.2 really is best suited to the manual gearbox that this car is fitted with. Automatics of this era can be sluggish and stubborn, whereas manual transmission makes this car so much more drivable. A major service will be completed shortly and this particular W111 Coupe will then be ready for summer motoring.
