Description
Find us at deanemotors.ie In the vast history of motoring brand collaborations, few are as celebrated as that of Ford and Lotus who combined powers to create the original Lotus Cortina in 1963. After huge success both on the road and on the track, Ford took over production of the Mk2 iteration in 1967 in a bid to improve build quality, and changed the name from ‘Lotus Cortina’ to ‘Ford Cortina Lotus’. This spectacular ’69 example with 73k miles is presented in the timeless colour of Ermine White and was optioned with Sherwood Green stripes and Lotus badging, as per the Mk1 cars. Having originally started life as a Dublin registered car, it has been fully restored with a donor shell and is now presented in stunning condition throughout. Despite some minor blemishes to the bodywork, this Cortina Lotus is captivating and it’s clear that great care was taken when the restoration was undertaken. The chrome, glass and trims are all in excellent condition and the wheels have recently been fully refurbished. The same high standard is present inside with the only real signs of age being the beautifully patinated original leather steering wheel. Thankfully, its previous owners have resisted the urge to retrofit a radio into the dashboard…most likely because the intake sound of the twin Dellorto carburettors is sublime at full chat. The infamous 1600 Twin Cam engine is a real gem, and the car is a joy to drive having had a full mechanical overhaul at the same time as the body restoration. A charming and very capable ’60s icon that will impress. **Viewing strictly by appointment. All cars supplied with valid NCT where appropriate.**
