This 1980 short wheelbase Land Cruiser FJ40 is the result of one of a series of specially commisioned J40 Land Cruisers and has been subjected to one of the most meticulous restorations we’ve ever seen. To say it’s as good as new would be an understatement – it is better than new, with most of the new parts still in their plastic or wearing their identity stickers. The beautiful Dune Beige bodywork and 16″ wheels with Dunlop A/T tyres give a sophisticated but purposeful look to the timeless design, and every single detail is flawless – from the bumpers to the NATO hitch, lights to the chrome hubcaps. Flashes of the meticulously rebuilt chassis and suspension are proudly on display as you walk around the car with every fixture and fitting being zinc plated, galvanised or powdercoated to perfection. The tasteful custom black/grey leather interior (still in its plastic) is a work of art, too, with all fixtures and fitting looking factory fresh. Power Steering is a welcome feature, as is the ice cold air conditioning, and an impressive soundsystem with sub in the rear. The folding rear bench seats allow for you and 6 of your friends to travel in retro style, too. This FJ40 (FJ for petrol versions, BJ for diesel) isn’t just a show car, either, with its bulletproof 2F 4.2 6-cylinder petrol engine, 3-speed manual gearbox, Hi/Low range, locking front hubs, front disc brakes and powersteering giving it proper off road capability – all of which have been completely rebuilt.
