1988 BMW 520i e28

Here for sale is my beloved e28 520i affectionately referred to as “Maggie”. I purchased the car in September 2020 in Lisburn, NI. The car still utilises its original M20B20 and in my ownership I’ve fitted a new timing belt and water pump along with regular servicing using either Hengst or Mahle filtration and Liqui Moly lubricants. The car was never used for extended periods of time in winter. It’s been a fair weather car all its life. Which when you see the overall condition of the vehicle becomes apparent especially the underside. The car spent most of late 2024, early 2025 being sympathetically “restored” at my buddy’s shop Oldtimer Automotive. In its time there, he tackled all of the jobs which were required to get the car back motoring. Namely, there were some small localised areas of rust which were correctly repaired and repainted to match the rest of the paintwork. My two mismatched Recaro “LS” fishnets were fitted, along with a chassis-mounted short shift kit with an extended gear lever. The engine was serviced including the aforementioned timing belt and water pump replacement. Generally the car was just given a thorough inspection and any issues which cropped up were corrected. The car was then NCT’d where it failed on alignment and headlight alignment. Both issues were duly sorted and the car obtained its second last ever NCT. Once complete, we then dialled in the desired stance. Lowering the car back down on its MTS Technik coilovers and fitting spacers all around to make the most of my 14x7 BBS Mahle wheels. The car has an aggressive stance due to the ride height and the replica Alpina style front spoiler which was fitted during the recomission. Overall it’s a very usable retro/classic BMW. The only reason I’m looking to move it on now is I have another project car. I’ll be sad to see this go. I’d love for it to go to a fellow BMW enthusiast. Car can be viewed in Roundwood, Co.Wicklow.
