BMW E39 5-Series 1998

1998 Oxford Green BMW 520i E39 Auto, 122,000 miles, Supplied new by Murphy & Gunn Milltown it is pretty much a base spec e39 with the exception of the Auto box and 15inch style 31 wheels. No leather or a/c for you sir! The good stuff... M52 6 cylinder 150bhp, May 1998 build so no Nikasil issues, No structural rust, all the usual E39 problem areas are really clean, jacking points, arches, sills, bootlid etc.. Original 3owner Irish car which I purchased in June of last year, NCT valid until June 2026, tax until end of May 2026, 1st owner for 8 years, 2nd owner for 19 years, Good history folder, 2nd owner was an auto electrician who maintained the car himself, all of the handwritten service notes are a really nice touch, Bodywork is very good, no nasty scuffs or bumps, Likewise on the interior, all very clean with the exception of driver seat bolster wear, Full original toolkit, Full size original spare wheel, Original First aid kit all with the car. The E39 interior is a real high point for BMW build quality, even 30 years on it is a wonderful place to sit and there are zero squeaks or rattles Since buying the car I have done some basic bits and pieces as follows: Fully serviced in Sept 2026, all fluids, filters, belts, plugs and wiper blades replaced, New discs and pads all round, Headlight glass polished The not so good... Rear wheel bearing (passenger side is beginning to complain once above 60kph) possibly won't impact it's next NCT but needs to be considered, Front passenger door has electrical gremlins, central locking and electric windows are intermittent at best, Electronic boot release no longer works, boot access via key only, Rocker cover and sump gasket have slight leaks, very common on BMW's of this age. Overall it is a very presentable and usable modern classic that has a few niggles which require sorting. I simply don't have the time, space, equipment or desire to give it my full attention at this point in time. Sit in and drive away..
