Chevrolet Apache Restomod – 350 V8 Forget what you know about Restomods for a minute, because this Chevrolet Apache is one of those builds that completely resets the benchmark. We see plenty of modified classics. Some look fantastic but don’t drive particularly well. Others have all the right mechanical ingredients but fall short when you get up close. This Apache does neither. The quality of the build is genuinely exceptional. The closer you look, the better it gets, and it’s very obvious that an enormous amount of time, thought and money has gone into getting this truck to the standard it is today. At its heart is a 350 crate V8 producing just over 360bhp, coupled to a 700R4 four-speed automatic gearbox. More importantly, the rest of the truck has been built to deal with it. It runs a full Air Lift suspension system with electronic management, twin tanks and compressors, upgraded disc brakes front and rear and power steering. The result is an Apache that doesn’t just look spectacular sitting on the ground – it actually drives properly. And that’s probably the bit we like most about it. It has been built, driven and properly de-bugged. Get in, turn the key and use it. It’s equally happy cruising through town as it is sitting at a show or heading to a Cars & Coffee on a Sunday morning. The workmanship throughout is on another level. The body and paint finish are superb, complemented by all-new chrome, glass and seals. A huge amount of billet aluminium has been used throughout the build, while underneath and out of sight the same attention to detail continues. It features a custom-built fuel tank, beautifully finished custom rear bed, full custom leather interior and a set of Boss wheels that suit the truck perfectly. Nothing feels like an afterthought. Open the doors, look underneath it, look through the engine bay or simply stand back and take it in – the standard of finish is consistent everywhere. There are cheaper ways of building an Apache. There are certainly cheaper Apaches to buy. But recreating a truck to this standard would require an extraordinary amount of time and, realistically, an extraordinary amount of money. That’s what makes this one special. It isn’t a freshly finished show truck that still needs months of sorting. It’s a properly built, properly finished and properly usable Restomod that has already had the important job of being driven and perfected. Quite simply, one of the finest pickup builds we have ever had through our doors. And without a shadow of a doubt, one of the coolest.
