Description

I'm selling my 1970 Land Rover Series 2A SWB fitted with a 3.9L Rover V8. It comes with a deliciously sounding V8 engine attached to an LT76 Series 3 gearbox via an adapter plate, and had a few sensible mods done to it. First, both the front and rear axle diffs were replaced with Range Rover (Classic) ones, to improve the gearing ratio. This work, alongside some other bits, is documented on a series of magazines where this car was featured. Recently, I've added a (remote) brake booster to make stopping the car an actual possibility. As that work was being done, I've taken the opportunity to replace some brake and clutch lines, brake master cylinder, clutch master and slave cylinders. I've also replaced the clutch (with a LOF one), as well as addressed the electrical gremlins -- crucially wrong fuel and temp reporting caused by a stuck 10V voltage stabilizer. The car is in relatively good shape for its age, but by no means in showroom condition. The good parts: - Deliciously satisfying V8 noises - Freewheeling hubs - Bulkhead was replaced with a galvanized one (by a previous owner) - Engine was serviced recently (compression tested and all 8 cylinders around ~150psi). - Swivel balls are in good shape The known not-so-good/problems are: - Chassis is 6.5/10 condition. There are some rust spots and age marks, but if kept dry (as it is now) it should last for a long time. - Soft top is a bit tired - (Retroffited) passenger Lucas wiper motor requires rebuilding. - Rear (Rover) axle has some rust around the strengthening brackets As any land rover worth having, it comes with a large bag of parts. There's a new electric (push) fan to replace the existing one, there are multiple seals, filters, gaskets and others. I also have a collection of gearboxes, axles and other series parts which can be included if the offer is sensible. The reason for sale is that we're expecting another baby, and I can only safely strap one child to the bonnet.
