Mercedes-Benz 230SL Pagoda - Restored

First registered on April 5th 1966, this Mercedes-Benz 230SL Automatic, is an original right hand drive UK example. The history folder shows that in 2019, the car was restored in Malta at a cost of just under €50,000 and it remains in wonderful condition, having had little use since. The Ivory paintwork is excellent with only a few age related marks and all brightwork is fresh and fits correctly. The brown soft top is new and fits perfectly. The interior is upholstered in the correct “Cognac” MB Tex, as it would have left the factory. New wood trim has been fitted to the dashboard along with new beige carpet. This is a gorgeous interior and a great place to spend time in. The underside of this Pagoda is as good as the top side. It’s clear from closer inspection that the 2019 restoration was extensive and carried out to a very good standard. All suspension, brake and drive line components look better than when they would have left the factory. The engine bay does not disappoint. Just like the exterior and interior, the quality of finish is excellent with high levels of originality and attention to detail. The motor hums to life whether it’s hot or cold and idles correctly. On the open road, with the roof down this Pagoda really proves itself. It purrs along, taking everything in its stride. The automatic gear box swaps gears easily and performance is more than adequate. All you need to do is sit back, relax and enjoy. There’s a good reason why the W113 SL is so desirable and valuable…they are stunningly beautiful and glorious to drive.
