In 1992 , Mercedes introduced the most expensive production car in Germany at the time, the 140 Series Coupe designed by Bruno Sacco. The car was built regardless of cost and was more powerful and more aerodynamic than the previous SEC model and was loaded with technical advances. The model came with three engine choices , the relatively underpowered 420 was not a popular choice, nor was the fiercely complicated 600 V12 and the most popular was the V8 , 5 Litre model , the S500. Exclusivity was guaranteed as only 26,022 C140 Coupes were built in total, in contrast to the previous 126 model Coupe , where production was almost three times as much at 74,000. The car offered every possible luxury with ADS ( adaptive damper steering) , Double Glazed , flush fitting electric windows , soft closing Doors and Boot, Seat Belt Butlers , electrically adjustable Steering Wheel and electric Front Seats with a wide range of adjustment and pneumatic lumber support . Exterior detailed touches included Chrome Wands in rear wings to help with accurately placing the car when reversing ( this was before the days of reversing cameras ) and an Automatic chrome boot opening panel. Taxed , NCT valid to Sept. 2027 and € 56 Tax these cars now very rare, represent incredible value , are very easy to use on a daily basis and are a surefire investment prospect with much scope for appreciation in values.
