Stunning original Irish Rover P5B Coupe

When we think of 4-door coupés, we invariably think of the contemporary models that we see on our roads today. The roots of this seemingly new concept, however, can actually be traced back to 1962 with the introduction of the mighty Rover P5B Coupe. This handsome example is an original Irish car built in 1969, and its Coupe credentials can be attributed to the sloping rear section of its roof – just one of the P5B’s unique design features. Finished in its original colour of Arden Green with silver birch roof, this stunning car is in exceptional condition having had much money recently spent on it to restore and preserve its original features and fixtures. As well as the beautiful finish on its paint, the car has been treated to new suspension, tyres, door seals, electronic ignition, plus the gearbox, steering box and carbs were rebuilt, too. While the original leather interior was preserved, new carpets and upgraded wood were also fitted in the last couple of years. The car retains its original tool kit and still features its original optional extras of front and rear headrests (the height of luxury!), heated rear screen and rear heating with speaker control. On the road, the car drives exactly how it should. The gearbox is smooth, the kickdown works perfectly and the legendary 3.5 Buick V8 is pleasantly quick – not to mention beautiful sounding – with just 73k miles on the clock over its 51 years. We love P5B Coupes and, as well as being a rare matching numbers original Irish car, this really is one of the better examples out there. Having sold this car in recent years we were delighted to take her back, especially after her winning a concours de elegance in a local show in Cork.
