Description

Some cars whisper “luxury”. Others whisper “expense”. This one just clears its throat with a cultured V8 burble and reminds you that the late 90s were peak Range Rover, peak bravado, and possibly peak optimism. Here we have a properly sorted P38 4.0 V8 Autobiography, finished in the only colour combo that matters: black on black. Super rare, properly menacing and about as subtle as ordering a pint before noon. This is an original Irish car wearing the absolutely brilliant private plate 00D7777, which alone looks like it should come with a velvet rope and a reserved parking space outside a country hotel. Supplied new and later bought out of Stuart’s Range Rover, it has covered just 77,000 miles from new, which for a P38 is basically still in its slippers. It has just had the sort of major service that makes ownership feel less like gambling and more like a sensible life choice. New plugs, leads and coils, all fluids done, four new tyres and an underside refresh. It’s very good underneath, not the usual archaeology dig. Inside, there’s a new head cloth and acres of proper Autobiography wood, including the upgraded centre console, because in the 90s you could never have too much timber. The bodywork is genuinely excellent, super straight and not the tired, lacquer-peeling example we’ve all seen too many times. It retains the original radio and CD player, all working as they should, paired with the upgraded Harman Kardon sound system which still does a fine job of making everything sound like you’re driving to a very important meeting in 1999. It’s been really looked after from new and comes with a large service history, all books and even the original purchase receipt showing a price of £57,000. Adjust that for inflation and you’ll realise this was not bought on a whim. Period road tests described the P38 Autobiography as combining “traditional Range Rover authority with limousine comfort and a V8 that suits the car’s unhurried confidence.” They also noted that it felt less like a car and more like a statement. Fast forward to today and they were right. These are properly coming of age, appreciated for their design, their presence and the fact that nothing modern quite replicates the experience. As good as they come, properly sorted, properly rare and absolutely class. If you’ve been waiting for the right P38, this is the one you’ll regret missing. It’s the sort of car that makes you want to drive slowly, park carefully and casually mention you’ve “always liked them.

I recently bought a Jaguar XJS from Simon at Deane Motors and had a very good experience throughout. Simon was great to deal with, responsive and clear in his communication. The car was exactly as described and presented to a high standard, and everything was delivered as promised and on time. The process was straightforward from first enquiry to handover. If you’re looking for a classic car and want a professional, no-hassle experience, I would highly recommend Deane Motors.

Purchased a car from Simon. Great services from start to finish, really makes the process enjoyable. Their passion for cars is evident, and they put a strong emphasis on customers satisfaction and support, no question or request for support goes unanswered.

I recently purchased an e46, 320Ci off Simon from Deane Motors. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience from start to finish. From the first call on Tuesday to picking up the car on Friday, the process was seamless! Someone who really knows their stuff and values his customers. Would highly recommend to anyone in the market.
