Volkswagen 1302S Beetle 1971 Sunroof VW 1302

Bettina has been in my ownership for over 9 years. Italian job that moved to the UK with her family in the mid '70s. The first family owners kept the car until 1999. The second owner, Mark, was a fella that polished the car more often than he drove it. He kept the car until 2016, sold it to Dale (a man leaving nearby, who wanted to buy a VW from the sixties, which this one wasn't) whom I bought the car from in late 2016. Registered on my name ever since (reg. ZV 40163). The factory body colour (L20D Clementine Orange) was one of the main reasons I bought the car. The roof, the engine lid and the back bottom panel still have the factory applied paint. Mechanically sound with a very good, smooth running engine. Low mileage considering its age - it has a lower mileage than my bicycle which I bought new in October 2011. The car drives well, but requires some work. It is a running project. The inlet manifold needs to be replaced due to the hole in the exhaust-inlet heating pipe. The spare part is included with the car. The tyres are at least half the age of the car and the Bosch battery is weak, although I may replace the battery in the coming days. Some surface rust here and there and at the bottom of the inner front wing panels. The floor pans are good and structurally the car is solid. Please keep in mind that the vehicle is over half a century young and not a perfect example, but still much better than most. Is an original 1302S (it has the flat windscreen, McPherson at the front and the double joint drive shafts). Also the special front indicator lights made for the Italian market, rare model with no modifications. You will be surprised how well the engine runs as I keep it serviced to the best of my abilities (the last basic service was done in December 2025). There are a good few options from the factory as listed on one of the sheets. It is a lovely base for a main or minor restoration or you can drive it as is.
