1990 Volkswagen Golf Mk2 GTI 8v Price: €9,250 This is not a concours car and I do not want to present it as one. It is a 36-year-old car, a little scruffy in places and very much rough-and-ready, but it is a proper Mk2 GTI and gets attention wherever it goes. I have spent over €6,000 on servicing and maintenance during my 3yr ownership, with receipts there for everything. Loads done for NCTs over the years, including gearbox replacement, rocker cover gasket, ignition control unit, distributor cap, leads, fuel pump, fuel lines, ignition coil, starter motor and alternator. Too much to list fully, but the paperwork is there. Known bits: Back of the headliner was sagging and has been cut out Window scrapers are rusted and will need replacing - common. Driver’s window is a bit loose, but goes up and down fine Stone chips and age-related marks around the car Driver's side door is ever so slightly a-jar at the bottom, hard to notice. Not mint, not pretending to be For me, it has always been good enough as a usable classic. Someone picky could spend a bit more and bring it up another level, but I have just enjoyed it as it is. It is €56 tax, and it is getting close to classic/NCT-exempt territory in the coming years, so it is only going one way as a car. PRICE IS FIRM.
