Light, responsive, compact, fast. That pretty much sums up the Appleslice Wing foil board! Wing surfing, or wing foiling, has taken a giant leap recently. As has the understanding of which equipment is best to ride. We built numerous prototypes of this Wing Foil board to find a shape that works for most riders in most conditions. We made 5 sizes to suit beginners and intermediate riders. Really experienced riders might find it possible to start on a super low volume board. But most riders will want a board with a volume in liters around their body weight in KG. Better riders can ride a little below their weight and beginners a little above. Also for light cruising in light winds and on flat water, a larger size is much easier to handle. Board Features The shape of the Appleslice Wing is compact and quite thick. The idea is to fit as many liters as possible into the compact shape. This compact outline and short length are really important for wing profiling. Imagine a large board balanced on a small foil mast. That's a huge swing weight that slows down all movements and makes quick turns impossible. This can be an advantage for learning, as it's more stable, but the learning curve for wing profiling is quite fast, so you won't be enjoying a large shape for long. The bottom of the Appleslice Wing has a 4-way "boat hull" at the front. This divides the water and allows for quick acceleration. The middle section has a 3-step section with a flatter section in the middle. This provides a fast planing surface, but is small enough that it doesn't stick to the water surface when releasing and rising on the foil.
