Overview
Description
This coat belonged to my glamourous great Aunt Jo Mangan. Aunt Jo as we knew her, was one of the first professional women of the Free State after Irish independence. She trained with the Dept of Agriculture and became one of the first poultry instructresses. Driving around Ireland, teaching farmers (wives mostly) how to rear, look after chickens and ensure healthy flocks. She was a "career-woman" in the days when women didn't often get to have careers. This coat came to me when she passed. It's been kept really well, I always keep it cool in the summer as furs need to be looked after. Even though its rabbit fur, its still really lovely. But I'm decluttering and have to be ruthless to make space in our house. I'd love to see this go to someone who loves it. The inside lining is black satin, good condition, and theres' one of those little tie-thiingy's inside (at the waist) to stop it flapping about.
