I was waiting to post this review as I have had some issues since I took delivery of my BMW 116d back in February and their warranty runs out after three months.

Bit of a long-winded review but here goes...

When I bought the car, I specifically said I would go ahead on the basis it had a service book with service history... Although I was sent some images of the car’s overall history from its time in UK I was told the Service Manager was sorting the service book for me. It never materialised so I gave up asking in the end. I also asked for the alloys to be refurbed which they said they could touch up...the touch up made no difference at all and they gave me a number for a company who could do refurbs.

There are a few areas they could have done better which is reason for lower rating. When I test drove the car the brakes clamped on randomly which I raised with John when I got back to the dealership. I had a call later that day to say it must have been me accidentally hitting the speed limiter that caused it. I wasn't very sure that was the case but took their word for it and bought the car the following week.

Two weeks later and the brake issue had happened again twice (in the wet), so I took it back and left it with them. I chased for an update and was told "the ABS unit needed replacing". When it came to arranging getting the car back I pushed for it to be dropped back as had no way to get to the garage. I was grateful for this and to be fair it was least anyone could expect given an issue so soon after taking delivery. I looked at the printout of what was done and it said the right front brake calliper was replaced. This was strange because on 13th March John told me "…we have put a new ABS unit in"… so I queried that and was then told "…it was said to me that may have been the problem"...

Fast forward two more weeks after that and there was an issue with the car rolling when handbrake fully raised and humming/reverbing from front left at 50/60mph. I dropped it back they supplied me with a courtesy car… a 2011 focus full of mould, dents and scrapes but at least I was able to get about.

After chasing twice for an update, I finally had my car back after four days. The handbrake was a little better but as for the humming/reverb issue; that was not. There was no printout of what they did despite me asking. I asked John what had been carried out and got no reply and no follow-ups either to ask if the issues were fully resolved. I also raised (twice) that the rear door seals were not sitting flush with the door frame which was not sorted.

I didn’t bother going back to them again given that all the issues should have been sorted. Overall I am not 100% convinced with the mixed messages and not satisfied with the overall experience. If you have a problem they are quick to help, just make sure you push harder if something is not quite right. Fingers crossed there won’t be much else wrong with now the 3 month warranty now expired.

Edited 07/06: fan belt went last week and the car needed towing. I dread to think what the next issue might be and whether the car they sold me really was serviced properly…
